Prince William & Kate Middleton May Be Planning To Move Closer to the Queen

Another pair of royals may be leaving London for good. One royal expert believes that Kate Middleton and Prince William are seriously considering a move to Windsor Great Park. This would not only remove the senior royals from the hustle and bustle of the city, but it would also put them closer to the Queen.

The move would put them within walking distance of the Queen.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the couple have been toying with the idea of leaving their current home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England, and moving to one of the Queen's "extra" homes, Fort Belvedere. This would put the pair significantly closer to the Queen, because the house sits on the property of her Windsor home.Kate Middleton, Prince William, Princess Charlotte, Prince George

They also would be closer to school for their kids.

William and Kate have proved to be very hands-on parents, so it comes as no surprise that they like to handle school drop-offs.

"Bringing their kids to school has also proven pretty difficult lately among the busyness of London, another reason why moving to Windsor could make the family's lives easier," Katie told OK! Magazine via Cosmopolitan UK.

"Every morning and afternoon they try to do it themselves if they can. And whilst it may seem like a short drive, they have both found traffic to be a huge factor. Sometimes it can take an hour to get the kids to school and make their way back and that’s a long time out of their days," she explained.

This isn't the first time a move to Fort Belvedere has been floated.

It seems like the idea of moving closer to the Queen has been on their minds since she unexpectedly took ill in the fall. People around the world were shocked when the 95-year-old monarch had to be hospitalized for an unknown illness in October.

Since then she's cut back significantly on her appearances and has been leaning on other senior royals, such as William and Kate, to help lighten her load.

A move to Windsor also could put Kate closer to her own family.

The home on the Windsor grounds would also make it easier for Kate and her parents to travel back and forth to one another. Although getting closer to her mom and dad might be a major perk, it sounds like what they're really looking for is a little more privacy.

As Kate and William get ready for their next roles within the family, privacy and security will be key.

The royal duo likely will be looking for a way to balance life in the public eye with their preferred low-key lifestyle as the Queen nears the end of her reign. Once William and Kate are leading the monarchy (whenever that may be), that balance will be hard to find.

"Whilst their home at Kensington Palace is highly secure, they have often felt overlooked and that they lacked privacy," Katie explained. "They love being at Anmer. But they need a base that is close to the capital so they can easily return for public engagements and events. Windsor seems like the ideal situation."

It sounds like Fort Belvedere can give them the best of both worlds.
