Boaters turn their camera to the water just in time to see the biggest whale of all

Have you ever taken a whale-watching excursion? Whales are notoriously elusive, and only a handful of tours can guarantee a glimpse.

Many eager whale watchers return home with nothing more than a beautiful sunset over the sea. Because there are only 12,000 blue whales in the ocean, they’re a rare sight. Blue whales like to be alone, far away from boats and prying human eyes.

This whale is not one of them! He was so preoccupied with the day’s delicious supper that he didn’t even see a boat full of folks. Passengers witnessed one of the most up up and personal interactions possible: a view of the animal’s tonsils as he approached the boat while feeding. His massive teeth reentered the water barely millimeters from the edge of the boat, splashing witnesses.
