An 11-year-old girl was walking to school when the unthinkable happened. She was allegedly r*ped and a 20-year-old man has been arrested for it.
His name is Larry Ward and he is being charged with r*pe, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated assault.
It happened around 7 a.m. on November 5 when apparently Ward hit the girl with his car. She was on her way to school, and after she was hit, she was then r*ped.
Here’s what her mom said:
“He snatched her, put her in the truck, r*ped her and then dropped her off over here.”
Parent Thepeleton Richmond said the following:
“We never had issues like that over here. Never ever. Not issues about r*pe. This is like a family community over here.”
She was crying at the side of the road when Cameron Fifer drove by. Here’s what he had to say about spotting the girl:
“As I stopped to ask her what happened, first thing she said was, ‘I just got r*ped.’ She was like, ‘I was hit by a truck, a blue truck and the guy proceeded to r*pe me.'”
What a horrible thing to happen. It was an event that Mike Rallings, the Memphis Police Department Director became very emotionally affected by as it shook him to the core when he learned how the whole incident went down. Here’s what he had to say:
“That broke my heart to imagine that a little innocent 11-year-old girl on the way to school was brutally attacked by anyone. I’m glad that we worked again to bring that family some closure.”
“At any time, I encourage adults and young people to walk in groups if they’re going to and fro. Definitely pay attention to your surroundings.”
Apparently Ward has previously been arrested for burglarizing a building, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
The girl in the meantime is expected to make a full recovery in the physical sense. No doubt there will mental and emotional wounds to heavily deal with. Very sad such a young child had to go through this kind of horror, simply by walking to school in the morning.
