While it’s been labeled as “conspiracy theory” for years, it turns out cannabis apparently does kill cancer cells.
The US government has just added a page on their official cancer advice website in regards to the use of cannabis and cannabinoids.
“Cannabinoids may be useful in treating the side effects of cancer and cancer treatment” is what is being stated by The National Cancer Institute which is part of the US Department of Health. The delivery system stated is that of smoking, eating (baked products), or drinking herbal teas. Also simply spraying under the tongue is seen as effective delivery.
Other beneficial uses that the site lists are the following:
Anti-inflammatory activity, blocking cell growth, preventing the growth of blood vessels that supply tumours, antiviral activity and relieving muscle spasms caused by multiple sclerosis.
The page states studies regarding mice and cannabis. The cancer cells in mice were actually killed when exposed to the cannabis.
This isn’t new, as there have been many scientific studies in the past suggesting this. The US government’s National Institute on Drug Abuse has now made revisions stating how cannabis could actually shrink brain tumours, due to it’s ability for killing off cancer cells!
Available in the US are now two medications containing cannabinoids for cancer patients which are FDA approved, where in the UK the drug Sativex is a prescribed drug, but is still not considered as useful for wide range medical uses.
