A father raped his own pregnant daughter after she had tracked him down after 20 years apart, saying to her as he carried out the act ‘I love you forever’.
The 38-year-old man, who had a history of violence, had been staying in his estranged daughter’s house with his partner and son before the rape.
The two were home alone at the time of the attack.
The Melbourne woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said, according to The Age: ‘This was the first time meeting my father. He was happy to see me too … I was just so excited and happy to finally meet my real dad.
But once they were alone, he said, ‘Give Dad a hug,’ before following her into the bedroom and raping her, saying ‘I love you forever’.
She said: ‘I didn’t say anything or do anything. I felt I had to co-operate and not say anything. I was worried I might get hurt. I thought that if I tried to stop him, he would get angry.
‘I knew he had a very violent past and had been in jail for physical assaults.’
The father initially told police his daughter had ‘made’ him have sex with her and he had tried to refuse, but said he eventually complied because he was ‘afraid to lose her’.
He was jailed for incest – but had his sentence reduced to three years on appeal after judges heard about the ‘intellectually disabled’ man’s background.
The court heard that the man claimed his mother was an alcoholic and he began smoking cannabis aged 10, before living on the streets.
