A new type of breast cancer treatment may save women, with even the most aggressive breast cancer, from having to endure the grueling results of chemotherapy. Though the treatment is still in the trial phase, the results so far have been very positive. About 9 out of the 10 women who participated saw a drop in their cancer cells. One out of four had shrinking of tumors, and some even saw them disappear completely.
The groundbreaking treatment is a combination of two drugs. One called Herceptin that is currently already being used for breast cancer treatment, and a second drug called Tyverb. The treatment, which currently costs around $2100, could radically change the future of treating even the worst cases of breast cancer.
