She cuts her towels into strips. The result is absolutely brilliant!

Everyone has towels at home that have seen better days. But don't throw them away - make a rug out of them instead - it's perfect for a bathmat. Sound strange? Here, have a look at how it's done.
It's best if you take three towels of different colors. Then, at the end, you'll have a beautifully colorful result.

Fold the towels once down the middle and cut strips from the fold outwards.

Each strip should be at least 3 centimeters thick. However it is not a problem is they are not exact. Approximately widths, size of your thumb for example, is fine.

This, of course, you naturally repeat with each of the three colors. Then you should have a pile of terry toweling strips.

Now we begin the assembly: take one of each of the three colored strips and place the ends on top of one another. A few stitches will hold them in place.

Now, diligently plait them together. Just make a classic plait from the three stitched together strips.

As soon as the plait is finished, comes the next step. It's best if you always intertwine the ends and sew them together.

At the end you'll have one long plait that even Rapunzel would be proud of. Moving on..!

Now it will all be roll into one big spiral. First you'll need to make a starting point. Fix it all in place with a few stitches.

And always turn in a circle.

For each circle, use a needle and thread for extra stability.

The size of your rug is entirely up to you and the towels that you use. The diameter should really be at least 70cm though.

To finish, simply sew the terry toweling ends together.
