Every day hundreds of animals are thrown out and hunted outside the door. The life as a street dog is dangerous and degrading. They are driven away from many places, get beaten and compete with each other over turf wars. The animal rescuers heard that a dog lived here. But they were not prepared for what they would find in the abandoned basement.
The dog is just a picture of misery, nearly dead from starvation and covered in wounds.
He has scabs and innumerable weeping injuries that are inflamed, and he is visibly in a lot of pain.
One could see it in his eyes: this dog was ready to die! Too weak to stand, not only he had given up on himself, but his owner as well. He is just one of thousands of street dogs who is completely on his own. If any of these animals get sick, nobody helps them, and they receive no care or medication.
But very, very slowly, they manage to get food into him again. They named the stray Perry and lovingly care for him. He is already regaining trust in people, and is growing accustomed to being held near.
His wounds are healing and his eyes have that spark of life back. He is unbelievably thankful to his rescuers.
A true bundle of energy! Finally, he's found his rightful home!
