Many people love coffee. First thing in the morning, when still half asleep, is when most people drink the first cup of the day. And at the same time some rubbish is produced because the coffee ground left in the filter is not used and immediately thrown away. Or so we thought. The truth is that this black Gold is invaluable. One only needs to spread it onto backing paper or on a flat plat and allow to dry. Then, you're ready to start with these 14 worthwhile tips where you can use the coffee grounds every day.
1. Fertiliser
You can create really good fertiliser from coffee grounds. It is unbelievably rich in nutrients and amount others, contains nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, and as such helps the plants to grow.
2. Cellulite-Remedy
Most cellulite remedies that are palmed off at high costs from the cosmetic industry, predominantly include caffeine. Instead of obtaining an expensive cream, you can use some oil and coffee grounds to create a much cheaper and similarly effective alternative.
3. Compost
Worms love coffee grounds. Although it initially sounds like disgusting and useless informations, is actually brilliant. Whoever puts their coffee grounds in their compost, can expect many earthworms, who will then colonise in droves and this of course means a much higher production.
4. Against snails
Snails hate coffee. If you want to protect your beets, simply spread some coffee grounds across the soil and you can be certain - the snails won't come visiting any more.
5. Against ants
The smell of coffee is so strong that the ant tracks get blurred and they cannot find their way through your beets to wreak havoc. It doesn't get any better.
6. Against wasps
Wasps also have a sniffly reaction to the smell of coffee ground. In addition: It doesn't work just to lay the powder somewhere. You need to place it in a firesafe jar and light it with a match, which will result in steam/condensation. Humans won't notice it nor is it damaging. This dispels even the most stubborn wasps in seconds.
7. Cat fright
It goes even further. For those annoyed by stray cats, you just need to spread some coffee grounds here and there. Then, like an unseeable barrier, the cats will be held at a distance.
8. Soap
The firming effects of the skin, as shown in No. 2, also have other uses. Not only good for the skin, the fine-ground powder also simultaneously provides a peeling-effect. 1 soap, 3 effects: It doesn't get any better than this!
9. In the fridge
Whoever regularly stores strong smelling food in the fridge, knows the phenomenon: The fridge reeks, even when it's been cleaned. A cup with coffee grounds is perfect to neutralise the odours and make the contents of the fridge even more appetising.
10. Abrasive
Coffee is also suitable for cleaning. The small grains function like a detergent for cleaning pots and pans and scrub the surfaces - and all without the use of chemicals. AND you save money on extra cleaning products.
11. For hair
Your hair will be grateful for the energising, nutrient-rich coffee grounds and be radiant as a result. This only works for dark hair-types, but is therefore even more effective.
12. Against bags under the eyes
Coffee doesn't only wake you up, it also helps against looking exhausted. With a mixture of coffee ground and a little olive oil, you can restore the life in your skin. Ownders of coffee-pad machines have an advantage here because the used coffee-pads are a perfect fit for the natural eye shape.
13. Grill rust
After a barbecue, the rust smells burnt, it sticks and nobody wants to clean it. This however, is quick and easy: Put some coffee grounds on a sponge and rub the grill with it. Then finally rinse it off with warm water. The barbecue will shine like new!
14. Against fleas
The first time that a dog is inflicted with fleas, the urgency is normally high. Coffee grounds are the saviour here! Use the moist coffee grounds and massage it into the dog's fur and skin. It will naturally relieve the dog of fleas and as an added bonus the dog will smell nice. ;-) Perfect.
